The process of painting metal involves coating metallic surfaces with an organic film. This treatment is undertaken for decoration purposes or in order to protect the surface from corrosion or from aggressive agents. The products to be painted are covered with a synthetic, resin-based powder coating such as for example eposidiche powders which, due to the electrostatic effect, adhere to the surfaces.
They are then placed in an oven where, thanks to the temperature, the paint melts and is then polymerised thus adhering to the object. The thickness of the layer of paint achieved with this technique is substantially greater than that which can be achieved with liquid paint (between 60 and 120 microns) and the mechanical characteristics such as hardness and elasticity are elevated.
Painting and galvanised steel, are a combination which if not adequately treated can create problems. Those who do not belong to the sector may not be aware that in painting galvanised steel items there is the risk of having difficulties such as peeling (detachment of paint), revealing signs of ageing of the product.
These two techniques must be combined through the use of an adequate surface chemical conversion.
Galv.Ar thanks to many years of experience in the application of paint to raw steel or to electrolytically or heat galvanised steel, aluminium and its alloys. It guarantees optimum results of paint-application and as regards resistance. Furthermore, continuing with the painting of galvanised items directly within Galv.Ar’s premises ensures the continuity of the various procedures in a controlled environment. Over 300 shades are availble from the RAL international range including a wide choice of surface finishes (smooth, textured, embossed, ‘wrinkled’ effect, hammered, semi-polished, opaque) as well as many special shades which meet many different architectural decorative and aesthetic requirements.
